Motorized Entrants

MOTORIZED UNITS assigned MUST access the Parade Formation Area by entering TULSA AVE AT BALBOA BLVD ONLY (Follow Tulsa East and turn southward on Petit Ave and look for your assigned Street Marked Unit Number which are on both sides of the Street.)

We have all kinds of units and we have them approach the formation area from different directions for SAFETY reasons, so please assist us in this regard.  As units arrive, one of our Motorized Coordinators may ask you to move your vehicle so that we can “tighten” them down (from just north of Chatsworth Street on Petit heading north). We anticipate using every inch of curb from Petit on north all the way to Tulsa Street at Balboa – so please help us make this work! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ENTER PETIT AVENUE FROM THE SOUTH OF CHATSWORTH STREET! HORSES WILL BE THERE!

PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH ALL PARTICIPANTS IN YOUR UNIT, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO WILL BE TRAVELING TO THE FORMATION AREA OTHER THAN ON YOUR MOTORIZED UNITS.

NO VEHICLES NOT A PART OF YOUR PARADE ENTRY SHOULD ENTER THE FORMATION AREA. RATHER, THEY SHOULD DROP OFF PARTICIPANTS AT THE CURBS ON CHATSWORTH STREET WEST OF PETIT AND THE PARTICIPANTS SHOULD WALK ON THE SIDEWALKS NORTH ON PETIT TO YOUR MOTORIZED ENTRY. THIS MUST OCCUR NO LATER THAN 12:30PM. THOSE DROPPING OFF PARADE PARTICIPANTS MUST IMMEDIATELY LEAVE THE FORMATION AREA – NO EXCEPTIONS.

The Formation Area is defined as: Balboa on the west, Hayvenhurst on the east, Tulsa St on the north and San Jose on the south. THERE IS NO PARKING FOR VEHICLES NOT A PART OF THE PARADE IN THE FORMATION AREA – ONLY THOSE VEHICLES TRAVELING IN THE PARADE WILL BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN THE FORMATION AREA. ANY VEHICLE LEFT UNATTENDED IN THE FORMATION AREA WILL BE TOWED – we have no choice as every inch of the Formation Area will be used for some aspect of the Parade and extraneous vehicles provide both safety and logistical problems. Please spread the word to all those in your group who will be dropping off parade participants.

Check in between 11AM AND 12:30PM at the Chamber Tent in the park (just east of the Library at the northwest corner of the Park) – only one member from each unit need do so.

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VEHICLES UNATTENDED (EVEN PARADE VEHICLES). WE MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO MOVE ALL VEHICLES AT ALL TIMES.

Please review ALL of the rules. Each one exists for a reason (or reasons) – most for safety reasons or to make the parade the best event that it can be. The Parade is for all of us – but especially for the children. Over 3,500 kids will participate in this year’s parade – and over 100,000 children have participated in it over the years.

IF ANYONE IS WALKING WITH YOUR ENTRY:

Your unit should have a designation of “M/W”. This means that part of your unit is “MOTORIZED” and part is “WALKING.   The Walking aspect of your unit should line up in the Walking section (see your map) and NOT in the Motorized section. The Walking portion of your unit should enter the Formation Area as designated in the instructions we provided to you and NOT as specified above. The above instructions are only for the Motorized portion of your unit.  Instructions for Walking Units are here.

Thank YOU for your participation – YOU help to “make” the parade.
